March 12th ‘09 NFI and SFI invites
The Norwegian and Swedish Film Institues; NFI and SFI, two of Scandinavia’s leading movie industry funding bodies, host and sponsor this conference on digital distribution and on line publishing of film.
Over the last decade the entertainment market has changed. As brick’n mortar shop sales declines in the Music industry, it seems new online and mobile platforms are evolving. Lately online bussiness models are blooming in the Games industry as well... But what about the Movie industry? How will growing on line influence affect this part of the entertainment industry?
YouTube, MySpace, and other 'Social Networking/Participatory Media' platforms are growing at an incredible rate. Accenture (NYSE: ACN) examined growth strategies across the landscape of film, music, publishing, radio, games and TV. Over half (57 %) of the respondents identified user-generated content as a key challenge or potential. So not only are the delivery platforms changing - audiences are changing along with them.
To investigate possible paths into the online markets and new ways to engage with audiences the Debates cooperates with NFI & SFI in its 5th instalment. Leading international publishers, developers, production houses and authors contribute their experiences and visions for how the movie industry can assimilate the opportunities digital distribution and on line publishing of film offers.
Issues to be discussed are:
- On line business models for entertainment industries
- Entertaining and empowering participating audiences
- The increasingly happy marriage of TV and the Web
- Re packaging of Film & TV for on line publication
- On line publishing's effect on talent development
- Potential & Pittfalls in on line publishing
